Strathmore at Bel Pre (SBP) is a vibrant neighborhood of single-family homes in the Aspen Hill area of Silver Spring, Maryland. Developed by Levitt & Sons beginning in 1968, our community has grown into a place where neighbors come together, families put down roots, and a strong sense of community continues to thrive.

From our wooded trails and open spaces to neighborhood traditions and community gatherings, SBP has plenty to explore and enjoy. Our active civic, recreation and village organizations help keep neighbors connected and engaged throughout the year.

Join the SBPCA

Stay connected with the neighborhood through the **SBP civic listserv** and support the work of our Civic Association. Membership is **$25 annually**, with **free trial membership for new homeowners** through March 31.

Community Groups & Resources

New to Strathmore Bel Pre? Welcome! If you’d like to meet a fellow neighbor, have questions about the community, or could use a little help getting settled and connected, reach out to Suzanne Lawson at (301) 915-7775. Suzanne would be happy to arrange a brief visit at your home and help you get acquainted with the neighborhood. In the meantime, explore the website for helpful information about our community, local resources, events, and more.
The SBPCA is a voluntary organization that fosters community spirit and engagement. Approximately 35–40% of homeowners choose to join.
The SBPCA organizes a variety of community activities, including:
- Publishing & distributing The Bugle, our community newsletter.
- Hosting the annual Community Yard Sale
- Organizing the 4th of July Parade and Field Games
- Bringing Summer Movies and Concerts to the neighborhood
- Supporting local festivals like the Spring Thing and Blocktoberfest
- Managing the community website and Facebook page
- Sponsoring our local Scout Troops and the SBP Village
- Running the SBPcivic listserv to enhance communication among members
- Representing the community at local government and civic meetings
The SBPcivic listserv ($25 annually) is a key communication tool for our neighborhood and is a key benefit of SBPCA membership. The SBPCA offers a free trial membership to new homeowners until their membership year ends on March 31st.

The BPRA serves as the homeowners association (HOA) for the neighborhood. Its primary responsibility is to manage and maintain the community’s recreational amenities, including the pools‍ & courts, ‍playgrounds, picnic area, bathhouse, snack bar, and pavilion located on Association property.
The Association collects an annual assessment, which is due March 1st each year.
Monthly meetings are open to the public.

The SBP Dolphins is our neighborhood swim team which has been in continuous existence for over 50 years and is open to all community children ages 4 to 18. The swim team is an anchor for the SBP community!

The Village is a free, multigenerational community program that helps neighbors support one another, build connections, and stay engaged close to home. Open to all adult residents of Strathmore Bel Pre, the Village offers volunteer support, social and educational programs, wellness activities, and interest groups—from friendly visits and home assistance to classes, outings, and neighborhood gatherings. A neighborly effort focused on the health, safety, and well-being of outdoor cats in SBP. Neighbors work together to connect cats with resources, promote responsible care, support Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and help lost, found, stray, and community cats. The goal is simple: support our neighbors—both two- and four-legged—and build a safer, more informed community for everyone.
