Our MCPS schools are more than places where students learn—they are community hubs connecting students and families with resources and support they need to thrive. Community partners help provide comprehensive services, link families to existing resources, and offer culturally and linguistically appropriate support.
Partnerships can include health and mental health services, social services, community education, food assistance, recreation, sports, and enrichment opportunities. These supports are designed to serve families at every stage, from prenatal care through high school.
Each school has a COMMUNITY SCHOOL LIAISON (CSL) working between MCPS and MCEA. Many Community Schools accept gently used clothing donations in all sizes.

Schools - PRIVATE
Located along the southern edge of SBP on Layhill Road, Barrie School is a progressive independent school serving students from 3 months through Grade 12. Its educational approach includes Montessori for children from 3 months through Grade 5, followed by Project-Based Learning for students in Grades 6–12.
Barrie emphasizes hands-on, student-centered learning, encouraging students to explore ideas, ask questions, collaborate, and engage with the world around them. The school is also a close-knit community of students, families, teachers, and staff, with many opportunities throughout the year for connection, collaboration, and community involvement.
With its campus nestled alongside the neighborhood and the Matthew Henson Trail, Barrie is a familiar and active part of the SBP community.
